Traditional Art
This was the first piece I was to take seriously and present to others with pride. The year was 2015- my sophomore year of high school. I was able to flex my skills in the NAACP-sponsored multidisciplinary competition — the Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics, also known as ACT-SO.
I entered the art division, painting to be specific. I didn't win bronze, silver, or even qualify to make it to nationals in the competition. Although I had been creative for as long as I could remember, seeing what others were capable of kickstarted me into a pursuit of improving my craftsmanship.
